Here in America we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving. It's during this time we try to be thankful for everything we have, but I think we forget the first Thanksgiving was more than just food. In honor of the Native Americans who celebrated with the pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving I wanted to feature an artist that was inspired by their culture. Myra from Mojave Moon Jewelry creates fantastic Native American inspired silver pieces as you will see!
I found these pictures on her Instagram page and was blown away! The designs, the stones...everything was beautiful! You can see she really pays attention to the details and uses quality materials in her work.
My favorite piece by far was her moon bangle. It has such a simple design, but the statement it makes is ridiculous! I like how she used 2 simple silver bands to connect to the center moon because it really features the moon rather than the rest of the bangle.
She also has some amazing turquoise statement rings. This one is almost as big as your hand! I think it's crazy that you can find a piece of turquoise that large let alone figure out how to put it into a ring setting.
I mentioned before that these designs are inspired by Native American culture. You can see that inspiration in the pieces below. The designs aren’t exact, but the patterns and symbols have a very similar style.
Myra mentions on her website that she decided to try silversmithing after she realized she didn’t want to do the same boring thing everyday by working at Starbucks. We are happy to see she embraced her creativity and was able to create amazing works of art for us to enjoy!
