In honor of America Recycles Day I decided to feature an artist that makes use of recycled materials. I found reVetro a while ago and loved their glass bottle jewelry. Did I mention they use alcohol bottles? That’s right, the owners Kelly and Leslie upcycle alcohol bottles that they get from local bars and restaurants into funky and unique jewelry. The pictures below are from their Instagram account.
They have tons of styles and colors of all types in their pieces not to mention they make jewelry for both men and women. I particularly like the pieces where they make use of the colors or printing on the bottles. You can get bangles with the Grey Goose logo to go with the shots you take at the bar on Saturdays!
They create their pieces in the normal glass texture and then frost some of the pieces which give them a totally different look. What’s great about these pieces is that they don’t necessarily look like upcycled bottles. They have a polished look that means you can wear them every day with any outfit like the green link bracelet below.
I also really like the texture they have added to some pieces like the ones below. The metal dip that they added is a great contrast to the smooth texture of the glass pieces.
I’m all about rings (I like to stack as many rings as possible on my fingers!) and their rings are amazing! The way they have metal wrapped the pieces gives them almost a crystal type shape. They are simple, but they have a very unique feel to them which makes people do a double take to try and figure out what they are made of. They would make a great statement ring.
And they even have ornaments perfect for the holidays! reVetro is definitely taking their recycling seriously and they are a great inspiration for what can be achieved by recycling things we use every day.
