Now You Really Can Be a Mermaid Princess

I’m not too fond of the beach.  It’s hot.  It’s sandy.  It’s usually full of annoying teenagers.  However, the one thing I do like about the beach is walking alone the shore picking up sea shells.  The colors and shapes of the various types of shells you can find has always fascinated me which is why when I found Moana Flores and her sea shell jewelry I was hooked!  She is from Hawaii (I’m sure one of the best places to find sea shells!) and handcrafts all her own unique jewelry pieces.

All the pictures below are from her Instagram page which I couldn’t stop looking at!  Her designs are “ocean-inspired” as she stated in her bio and that is very obvious in her jewelry. She uses sea shells, sea glass, gold and silver to make her designs and incorporates all the things you think of when you think of the ocean.

What I really like about her pieces is the way she wraps the silver and gold around the sea shells.  I think shells have an awesome natural shape and the metal wrap really brings out that natural shape.  Also, by using a metal wrapped setting rather than a prong setting she is showing off the natural texture and color of the shells and putting them as the focal point.  Absolutely beautiful!

She has such a variety in designs that there is something for everyone.  Looking for something simple? She has it.  Looking for something that says I’m a mermaid princess that lives on land? She has that too!

Some of her pieces have simple details that really speaks to her love of the sea like the necklace and bangle below.  She added a little wave into her design, but it really helps the piece stand out and give it is own personality.

She stated on her Instagram page "Less is more...uuunless your talking about jewelry.  Then more and more is better".  We couldn’t agree more Moana and we want more of your unique jewelry!
